This week’s New Photographer, Megan Fingleton, is a documentary photographer based in New York. She earned her BFA with honors from New York University in 2008 and is continuing her education at The New School’s Graduate Program in International Affairs concentrating in Media and Culture and will receive her masters this spring. She has married her interests in human rights, medicine and photography. Writes Megan, “I travel and take pictures of organizations, doctors, and hospitals that do work in relation to human rights issues. I have taken pictures in Cambodia of land mine victims, Honduras of pediatric hydrocephalus, and I am currently photographing in the Ivo Pitanguy clinic in Brazil photographing plastic surgeries. Many of my images are graphic as they take place in the operating room.” — Greg Ceo
