In addition to improving the LCD viewing angle and tweaking theautofocus performance, the battery life, and a handful of other minorfeatures, Nikon also modified [...]

Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW
Next time you see somebody carrying a camera backpack or any backpack and unless it’s a super heavy pro trekking model, chances are you’ll notice something. Most people carry them by one strap. It’s possible that people don’t like being constricted by both straps or feel more secure if they can keep a hand on [...]
Boost your Nikon D200
Sometimes we are joking about a hypothetical 18-300mm f/1.8 to meet all our photographic needs. Well, we aren’t quite there yet nor will we ever see such a lens on a DSLR but the manufacturers are at least scratching this focal length range with some 18-200mm variants and the Sigma AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC is [...]

Vary Your Viewpoint
Author: Elizabeth West
The term “viewpoint†describes the camera’s position in relation to its subject—near, far, above, below, for instance. Many photographers never change their viewpoint. Ninety-nine percent of the time, they hold their cameras at chest or eye level and shoot straight ahead. Doing so allows them to take clear pictures of buildings, animals, people, [...]
Postal Pictures: Gifts by Mail
If you want to delight your friends and family, send them a picture by snail mail. While I am a great fan of online photosharing websites, especially flickr.com, I have discovered that people are thrilled to receive a nicely presented print. Yes, you can always stuff a snapshot into an envelope, but a frame makes [...]
Creating a 3D effect with image editing software
Instructables, a site that lets you share “what you make and how others can make it,†has a neat tutorial by Andrew546 describing how to create a 3D effect (pictured right) with your own photos. Winter Photography Safety – Digital Photography Tip of the Week

Epson Stylus Photo RX580
Some all-in-ones (AIOs) cram in a lot more functions than others. The Epson Stylus Photo RX580 ($199.99 direct) is at the minimalist end of the scale, even for a home AIO. It prints, scans, and copies—and that’s it. It doesn’t even offer choices to scan to e-mail or to a fax program you already have. [...]

Cataract Surgery
Update - March 5th: The left eye surgery is done and with remarkable results. I am having cataract surgery on March 4th (left eye) and March 25th (right eye). I'm lucky that my insurance covers 80% of the cost. I have to pay 20%. As I get closer, there are numerous tests and appointments that will take me off line from time to time, Also, I don't know how much news I'll be able to post while recuperating. but I'll post as much as I'm able to.
