Nikon D40 Review, December 2006, Phil Askey
The Nikon D40 is an all new affordable, compact, point-and-shoot digital SLR from Nikon, it follows on from the D50 but at a significantly lower price point and with a subtly different feature set. The biggest news however is probably fact that Nikon resisted the temptation to keep chasing megapixels (hooray for that) and instead [...]

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S650 and S700 get the FCC go-ahead
Do not confuse the Sony Cyber-shot S700 with the Sony Ericsson S700i cameraphone, the Sony Network Walkman S700, Sharp S700 carabiner player, or even Samsung’s S700 digital camera, and to a lesser extent, Canon’s SD700 — this thing is different. Different we say! Actually, it’s just Sony’s latest digital camera, a 7 megapixel number that [...]
Most Innovative Digital Cameras
As 2006 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the intriguing developments taking place in the digital camera industry this year. One in particular was the fact that although cameras continue to increase in megapixels, what manufacturers have been really promoting in their marketing campaigns has been new features, formats and functions. So, in [...]
The Riddle of Convergence, or: The Seductive Nokia N93
As I ran alongside the coastline of Key West listening to The Bends and watched the changing colors along the horizon as a storm system blew in, changing the ocean from pale green along the horizon to milky blue to an angry grey break against the shore I wished, for the thousandth time, that my [...]
How To Make Your Digital Camera Photos Even Better

Olympus Mju 725SW digital camera Review
20 December 2006 – About 2 weeks ago I finished the test of Ricoh’s 500G Wide, a ruggedised digital compact; it espoused design finesse for practicality and provided a great package as a family snapper the kids could use and yet remain the workman’s tool it is designed to be.
Enter the armour-plated Mju 725, [...]

[ REVIEW—CANON PIXMA Pro9000 printer ]

Highly recommended
The low-down: This printer is the top of Canon’s domestic range. It produces prints up to A3+ (329×483mm) and uses Chromalife 100 inks in eight separate cartridges.
It prints labels onto printable CD/DVD blanks using the supplied software and disc tray. Setup and USB connection is simple and there is a Pictbridge port for [...]
[ PRIME SUSPECTS ]
DPEXPERT WAS ASKED THE OTHER DAY FOR ADVICE on buying a lens for a digital single lens reflex camera. The inquirer has a choice when buying a Pentax K100D — a Sigma 18-125mm zoom or, for $50 more, an 18-200 lens. It looks like a bargain.
Zoom lenses are a wonderful invention but, as with just [...]

I'm lucky that my insurance covers 80% of the cost. I have to pay 20%. As I get closer, there are numerous tests and appointments that will take me off line from time to time, Also, I don't know how much news I'll be able to post while recuperating. but I'll post as much as I'm able to.
